Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Paladin Victoriana 2 a real cast iron radiator?
Yes this is made from solid cast iron. It is not one of those steel cast style radiators that just look like iron. It is the real heavy durable material that stays warm for hours.
What is the difference between real cast iron and cast style radiators?
Cast style radiators are usually made of steel. They heat up fast but cool down very quickly. Real cast iron takes longer to heat but keeps your room warm long after the heating is off.
Can I use these instead of cast iron baseboard radiators?
Yes you can. While cast iron baseboard radiators are very low and long the Victoriana 2 is a great choice if you have a bit more height under your window. It often gives out more heat too.
Do you sell skirting radiators for very low walls?
We specialize in column radiators like the Victoriana. If you are looking for skirting radiators because of low windows we can build a short Victoriana radiator to fit that space perfectly.
How do I find the heat output for a 600 x 600 radiator size?
To find the 600 x 600 radiator BTU output you need to check our size chart. A cast iron radiator of this size gives steady heat. Use our BTU calculator to get the exact number for your room.
Why are they called Victorian column radiators?
They are called Victorian column radiators because they are built in vertical sections called columns. The Victoriana 2 has two columns which makes it slim and perfect for hallways or smaller rooms.
Are these radiators Victorian style compatible with modern boilers?
Yes absolutely. Even though they are radiators Victorian style they work perfectly with modern central heating systems including Combi boilers and heat pumps.
How much heat do these Victorian heaters give out?
These Victorian heaters are very efficient. Because cast iron holds heat well they give a steady warmth that feels much nicer than the dry heat from standard white panel radiators.
Can I paint my cast iron radiator Victorian model?
Yes you can. We sell them in a primer finish so you can paint them any colour. This lets you match your cast iron radiator Victorian perfectly to your room decor.
Are these radiators heavy to install?
Yes they are very heavy because they are solid iron. You will need two people to lift them. We recommend using Wall Stays to stop them from tipping over.
Do I need special valves for these radiators?
You can use standard valves but we recommend traditional brass valves to match the look. They make the radiator look like a genuine antique.
How do I clean between the columns?
Cleaning is easy. You can use a long radiator brush to dust between the columns. The smooth finish makes it simple to wipe down with a damp cloth.
Will this fit in a narrow hallway?
Yes the Victoriana 2 is our slimmest model. It is only 110mm deep so it is perfect for narrow spaces where you do not want a bulky radiator sticking out.
Do they come fully assembled?
Smaller sizes come fully assembled. If you order a very long one it might come in two parts to make it easier to carry. We provide a joining tool for this.
Why does it take longer to heat up?
Cast iron is thick so it takes a little time to get hot. The good news is that once it is hot it stays hot for a very long time which saves energy.
Can I put these on a wooden floor?
Yes but check your floor is strong. Because they are heavy you might need to put extra support under the floorboards to hold the weight safely.
What happens if I scratch the paint?
If you scratch it you can easily touch it up with a little bit of metal paint. It is very forgiving and adds to the rustic antique look.
Do you have larger sizes for big rooms?
Yes we do. If you need more heat than the 2-column model we have 4-column versions that are deeper and give out much more heat for big living rooms.
Is there a warranty on these products?
Yes we offer a 10-year guarantee. These are built to last a lifetime so you can buy with total confidence.
Can I mix these with my old radiators?
Yes you can replace just one radiator with a cast iron one. It will work fine alongside your standard steel panel radiators on the same system.
