Frequently Asked Questions

What is the style of the Kensington radiator available here?

The Kensington radiator we sell is a classic column radiator. It is designed to copy the look of traditional heating from the Victorian era. It features rounded tubes and a smooth sloped top. It is perfect for anyone wanting that old fashioned look in their home without the high cost.

Is this model the same as the Paladin Kensington radiator?

No this is not the Paladin Kensington radiator. The Paladin model is made of solid cast iron. Our Kensington radiator is made of high grade steel. We designed ours to look exactly like the Paladin version but ours is lighter, heats up faster, and costs less money.

Why should I choose these over real Kensington cast iron radiators?

Real Kensington cast iron radiators are very heavy and take a long time to get hot. Our steel version gives you the same beautiful look but it is much more efficient. Steel heats up very quickly so your room gets warm fast. It is also much easier for your plumber to install because it is not as heavy.

Do Kensington radiators provide enough heat for large rooms?

Yes Kensington radiators are excellent for heating large spaces. Because they have many columns they have a large surface area. This helps the heat spread out into the room very effectively. They are great for big living rooms or rooms with high ceilings.

What material is the Kensington radiator made from?

Our Kensington radiator is made from high quality steel. We use steel because it is strong and durable. It allows us to create the beautiful shapes of cast iron but keeps the price affordable for our customers.

Are Kensington radiators suitable for modern homes?

Yes they look fantastic in modern homes. Many interior designers use the Kensington radiator to add a touch of character to new apartments. Painting them in a dark color like black or grey makes them look very stylish and contemporary.

How do I choose the right size Kensington radiator?

You should use our BTU calculator to find the right size. This tool tells you how much heat your room needs based on its size and windows. Once you know the heat number you can pick a Kensington radiator with the matching output from our list.

Do these Kensington radiators come in different colors?

Yes you can customize the color. We sell them in a standard primer finish which you can paint yourself. We also offer them in many other finishes. You can choose from classic white or metallic colors to match your decoration perfectly.

What valves should I buy for my Kensington radiator?

We recommend using traditional angled valves. These valves have a vintage design that matches the style of the radiator perfectly. Using modern plastic valves might look a bit out of place on such a classic looking heater.

Is the Kensington radiator heavy to lift?

It is much lighter than a cast iron radiator but it is still solid. One or two people can lift it easily depending on the size. This makes it much safer and easier to carry up stairs compared to the Paladin Kensington radiator which is extremely heavy.

Does the Kensington radiator come with a warranty?

Yes we offer a 10 year guarantee on our Kensington range. We are very confident in the quality of our products. This means you can trust that your radiator will work perfectly for a very long time.

Can I replace my old panel radiator with a Kensington radiator?

Yes you can usually swap them. You just need to check the pipe width. Since Kensington radiators are deeper than flat panels you might need to adjust your pipes slightly. Your plumber can do this easily.

How do I clean and maintain Kensington radiators?

Cleaning is very simple. You just need to dust between the columns now and then. You can use a long radiator brush or a soft cloth. Because they are made of steel they do not rust easily like old iron might.

What are the height options for the Kensington radiator?

We offer the Kensington in three main heights. You can choose from 580mm, 750mm, and 780mm. This variety helps you fit the radiator under windows or on tall walls depending on your space.

Why is the Kensington radiator cheaper than other brands?

We offer better prices because we use steel instead of iron. Manufacturing with steel is more efficient. This allows us to sell you a product that looks like a premium Kensington cast iron radiator but at a budget friendly price.

Do I need wall stays for the Kensington radiator?

Wall stays are metal arms that hold the radiator to the wall for safety. While our steel Kensington radiators are stable it is always a good idea to use wall stays especially if you have children or pets. It stops the radiator from tipping over.

Does the Kensington radiator hold heat for a long time?

Steel radiators cool down a bit faster than cast iron but they heat up much faster too. This gives you more control. When you turn the heating on you feel warm immediately rather than waiting an hour.

How many sections can I get on a Kensington radiator?

You can choose the width you need. We sell them starting from small 10 section models for narrow spaces all the way up to very wide 29 section models for big walls. We have a size for almost every requirement.

Is the paint on the Kensington radiator heat resistant?

Yes all the finishes we use are designed to handle high heat. If you choose to paint it yourself make sure you buy special radiator paint or heat resistant metal paint so it does not peel when the heating is on.

Can I get these Kensington radiators delivered quickly?

Yes we stock many sizes of the Kensington radiator in our UK warehouse. This means we can often deliver them much faster than companies that make custom cast iron radiators to order. Check the product page to see if your size is in stock.
