Frequently Asked Questions (7)

This model is 456mm wide, which is wider than other vertical Bonera radiators. How does this affect heat distribution and placement?
The increased width (456mm vs. 324mm) and higher section count (10 vs. 7) significantly increase the radiator's surface area and water volume. This results in a much higher heat output of 3520 BTU, which is nearly 40% more than the slimmer model. This wider profile is designed to act as a primary heat source for larger spaces, such as open-plan living areas or large master bedrooms. It radiates warmth across a broader horizontal plane, ensuring more even heat distribution in the room, despite its tall, vertical orientation. It's a true high-performance Modern designer radiator.
The specification shows "Weight: 0.0 kg." What is the realistic weight for installation planning?
The "0.0 kg" is a standard data placeholder. A steel radiator of this size (1800mm high x 456mm wide with 10 sections) will weigh approximately 35-45kg when empty. When filled with water, the total weight can exceed 60kg. This is a substantial unit. It is imperative that you mount it on a solid masonry wall (brick or block) using the heavy-duty brackets supplied. For peace of mind, we recommend using additional wall stays if available, and ensuring wall fixings (plugs and screws) are heavy-duty and suitable for the wall material. This is a key consideration for any Designer Radiator vertical of this scale.
What are the exact valve centers, and do I need specific valves for such a tall radiator?
The valve centers (the distance between the center of the inlet and outlet pipes) are a standard 50mm. This is universal for most column radiators. You do not need special valves because of the height. However, because the radiator is 1800mm tall, you will likely need angled radiator valves if your pipes come out of the floor, or straight valves if they come out of the wall. We recommend choosing designer valves that match the Designer Radiator Black or White finish to maintain a cohesive look.
The page mentions Anthracite and White finishes. Is the Anthracite a true matt black?
In the Bonera range, Anthracite refers to a deep, charcoal grey with a matt finish that appears as a sophisticated Matt black designer Radiator in most lighting conditions. It is a premium thermoset polyester powder coating, applied electrostatically and baked on. This creates a durable, scratch-resistant surface that is significantly tougher than standard paint. It's designed to resist chipping and fading, ensuring your Designer Radiator Black retains its dramatic appearance for years.
My house has a one-pipe (monotube) heating system. Will this radiator work efficiently?
This radiator is engineered for standard two-pipe central heating systems (one pipe for flow, one for return). It can be installed on a one-pipe system, but you will experience a reduction in heat output (typically 20-30%) because the water cools as it passes through the radiator and mixes with the incoming flow. You will also require specific one-pipe valves. Given the high output of this model, it may still provide adequate warmth even with the reduction. However, we strongly advise consulting a heating engineer to assess if your system can provide sufficient flow rate to a radiator of this size.
What is the difference between a "sectional" radiator and a "monolithic" design?
The Bonera is a sectional radiator. It is constructed by welding individual steel columns (sections) together. This is the traditional method for column radiators and gives them their classic, timeless look. It also means that, in theory, sections can be added or removed, although this is rarely done. A monolithic design is typically a single, pressed steel panel. Sectional radiators like this one are preferred for their Designer radiators aesthetic, offering depth and shadow lines that monolithic panels cannot replicate.
If I order this radiator, is the delivery suitable for a narrow staircase or hallway?
This is an excellent question. The radiator is 1800mm tall and 456mm wide, but it is shipped in its full height. You must ensure the delivery route (front door, hallway, staircase) can accommodate an item of this length. The package is long but relatively narrow (456mm wide + packaging). If you have tight turns or low ceilings on your staircase, please measure the clear space. The delivery driver will deliver curbside only; you are responsible for moving it inside. For large items, we recommend having two people available to assist with maneuvering the packaged radiator into your home.
