Abbey Angled Thermostatic Radiator Valves - Satin Nickel Finish

Introducing the Abbey Angled Thermostatic Radiator Valve Set in Satin Nickel, the perfect fusion of classic design and contemporary functionality. Designed to complement traditional cast iron radiators and period-style interiors, this valve set adds a touch understated elegance to any room while providing precise, energy-saving temperature control.

Contemporary Styling with a Traditional Soul

The rich satin nickel finish offers a beautiful, muted sheen that works seamlessly in both modern and heritage settings. It provides a sophisticated alternative to brighter polishes, giving your heating system a high-end, curated look. Whether you are renovating a period property or adding character to a new home, these radiator valves are the ideal finishing touch.

Universal 4-in-1 Connection for Stress-Free Installation

Designed for maximum versatility, the Abbey valve features a 4-in-1 inlet connection compatible with 15mm & 22mm compression fittings and ½" & ¾" iron pipe. This makes it suitable for virtually all UK plumbing systems, including older gravity-fed systems where the ¾" option ensures adequate water flow. With two included tail options (½" & ¾") for the radiator, you have everything you need for a straightforward, professional-quality installation.

Frequently Asked Questions (9)

I have a modern combi boiler system with 15mm copper pipes. Will this Abbey valve fit directly?
Yes, absolutely. The valve's 4 in 1 inlet connection includes a standard 15mm compression fitting. You simply slide the olive and nut onto your pipe and tighten the connection to the valve body. It is fully compatible with the pressure and specifications of modern sealed systems.
The dimensions show a height of 155mm. Will this clear my skirting board?
The 155mm height is the total distance from the centre of the pipe entry to the top of the valve body when installed. You need to ensure there is enough vertical space between your floor and the bottom of the radiator for this. If your pipe comes out of the floor very close to the wall, the angled shape should help clear the skirting board, but always check the 80mm width projection from the wall against your specific layout.
What is the difference between this TRV and a manual wheel valve from the same range?
A TRV Thermostatic Radiator Valve like this one automatically regulates the flow of hot water to maintain a set air temperature. You turn the dial to a number e.g., 2, 3, 4, and the valve shuts off when the room reaches that temperature. A manual valve requires you to physically turn the knob to adjust the heat; it doesn't react to the room's temperature. A TRV offers greater convenience and potential energy savings.
Is the satin nickel finish likely to scratch or tarnish over time?
Satin nickel is a very durable electroplated finish, prized for its hardness and resistance to tarnishing and corrosion. It is much more resilient than polished brass or chrome. While it is resistant to everyday wear and tear, like any metal finish, it can be scratched by abrasive cleaning pads or harsh chemicals. Cleaning with a soft, damp cloth is recommended to maintain its appearance.
Can I use this valve on the return flow side of the radiator?
Yes, this is a double valve set, meaning it includes both an angled TRV usually fitted on the flow pipe and an angled lockshield valve fitted on the return pipe. The lockshield valve is used to balance the system and is typically operated with a tool or key. Both valves in the set have the same satin nickel finish to match perfectly.
The website mentions a 10 year guarantee, but also says 6 years in the text. Which is correct?
The detailed specifications table at the bottom of the page confirms a 10 year guarantee. This is the correct warranty period against manufacturing defects. We recommend always relying on the detailed specification tab for the most accurate technical information.
How do I know if I need the 22mm compression adaptor mentioned in the options?
You likely will not need it. The Abbey valve's base inlet connection is already designed to accept 22mm compression fittings directly as part of its 4 in 1 system. The optional ABB 22 ADP adaptor mentioned is likely for a different finish or a specific conversion scenario, perhaps for the Old English Brass version. For the standard satin nickel valve with 22mm pipe, the fitting is integral.
What is the maximum working temperature and pressure this valve can handle?
While not explicitly listed on the page, thermostatic radiator valves of this quality are typically designed for standard domestic central heating conditions. This generally means a maximum working temperature of up to 100
Can I pair this valve with a different finish of pipe sleeve, like chrome?
While technically possible, it is highly recommended to use the matching Abbey satin nickel pipe sleeve kit. Mixing metal finishes on the same valve assembly can look mismatched and less professional. Using the matching shroud ensures a cohesive, high end appearance, as the sleeve butts directly up to the valve body, creating a continuous line.
