Valves Radiators - Traditional Thermostatic Radiator Valves - Admiral TRV Range Radiators

Admiral Traditional Straight Satin Nickel Radiator Valves – Refined Heating Style

Introduce a touch of understated luxury to your home with the Admiral Traditional Straight Satin Nickel Radiator Valves. Featuring a sophisticated brushed finish, these radiator valves are the perfect match for contemporary-traditional interiors and high-end cast iron radiators. Now available at an unbeatable low price, these valves offer a premium look with the robust performance expected from the Admiral range.

Precision Thermostatic Control in a Straight Design

Unlike standard manual options, these thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) are engineered for "high intent" temperature management. The straight orientation is specifically designed for radiators where the pipework comes directly out of the floor and enters the bottom of the radiator. By providing automated room temperature regulation, they ensure your heating system operates at peak efficiency while significantly reducing energy consumption.

Frequently Asked Questions (10)

When should I choose Straight Admiral Radiator Valves instead of angled ones?
Straight valves are the correct choice when your central heating pipes run along the floor or up through the floor and connect directly into the bottom of the radiator in a vertical line. They ensure a straight, uninterrupted flow of water and a tidy visual appearance for radiators with bottom facing inlets.
How does the Satin Nickel finish differ from a standard Chrome or Polished Nickel finish?
Satin Nickel has a brushed or matte appearance with subtle graining. Unlike the mirror like reflection of Chrome, Satin Nickel offers a softer, warmer tone. It is technically superior for high traffic areas as it is far more resistant to visible fingerprints, smudges, and watermarks, making it easier to maintain over time.
Is the Admiral Straight TRV compatible with modern 15mm copper piping?
Yes, the set comes standard with 15mm compression connectors. This is the standard pipe size for the vast majority of UK central heating systems. For older systems with 22mm pipes, we offer specialized adaptors to ensure a perfect fit without the need for messy pipe reductions.
Can these valves be used with high pressure unvented heating systems?
Absolutely. The Admiral range is constructed from high grade solid brass, designed to withstand the pressures and temperatures of modern unvented systems and combi boilers. They are tested to ensure they remain leak proof and quiet even under high flow conditions.
What technical advantage does the thermostatic head provide over a manual wheelhead?
A manual valve simply restricts flow based on how far you turn it. The Admiral Thermostatic Radiator Valve contains a liquid filled element that expands and contracts based on the ambient air temperature. This allows the valve to self regulate, closing when the room is warm enough and opening when it cools, which is significantly more energy efficient.
Does the 10 year guarantee cover the finish of the valve?
The 10 year guarantee covers the structural integrity and mechanical functionality of the valve. While the Satin Nickel finish is highly durable, it is important to follow the cleaning instructions using only a damp cloth to ensure the finish remains in pristine condition for the duration of the guarantee.
Can I install these valves myself or do I need a plumber?
While a confident DIYer can install radiator valves, we always recommend a professional plumber. Installing valves involves draining down part of the heating system and ensuring water tight seals on compression joints. A professional can also balance the system effectively once the new valves are in place.
What is the significance of the Frost Protection feature?
In unoccupied rooms or during winter vacations, you can set the valve to the * frost symbol. This prevents the radiator from fully shutting off. If the temperature drops near freezing, the valve opens to allow warm water through, preventing the high pressure bursts that occur when water freezes inside pipes.
Why is a Lockshield valve included in the set?
Every Admiral TRV set includes one thermostatic valve and one lockshield valve. The lockshield is the return valve used to balance the system. Once set by a plumber, it ensures the radiator receives the correct proportion of the system's hot water, preventing cold spots in radiators further away from the boiler.
Are these valves suitable for gravity fed systems with low flow?
Yes. The Admiral Straight TRV is designed with a high flow internal aperture. If your system is particularly old or relies on gravity rather than a pump, you can opt for the
